About
Welcome to Brewster's Northgate, an inviting gem located at 354 Old Steese Hwy in Fairbanks, Alaska. This cozy restaurant quickly earns its stripes as a beloved dining destination, embracing anyone who walks through its doors with warmth and a diverse menu that delights the senses.
First-time diners are bound to have memorable experiences, as reflected in heartfelt reviews from patrons like Amanda Woods and Jenna. Brewster's Northgate excels in service, with staff members who consistently receive praise for their attentiveness and friendliness. Whether it's a bustling weeknight or a special celebration—like Yi Gu's birthday gathering—the care and attention to detail never falter. The atmosphere is described as both fun and comfortable, making it a perfect spot to unwind, engage in vibrant conversations, and enjoy great food.
Speaking of food, Brewster's Northgate boasts a tantalizing array of dishes that cater to various palates. Classic favorites such as the jalapeno burger, praised for its perfect infusion of spice, paired wonderfully with the crispy waffle fries that complement its bold flavors. Although some patrons, like Amanda, have pointed out the pricing of certain items, the flavors and portion sizes are often seen as justification for the cost. A double portion of halibut, for instance, offers a delightful seafood experience that showcases the quality of ingredients used in every dish.
Specialty items like the steak bites appetizer and French dip sandwich have earned rave reviews, highlighting a commitment to delivering satisfying servings. Even in moments where expectations might not have been fully met—like an overcooked burger—the responsive service model ensures guests leave with a good taste in their mouths, sometimes enhanced by a considerate discount as noted by James Isaac.
In addition to the culinary highlights, Brewster's Northgate is committed to creating an experience that respects the customer’s time and taste preferences. Guests are encouraged to communicate any specifics about their orders, as staff is more than willing to accommodate requests to create the perfect dining experience.
Finally, don't overlook the innovative touches, such as the unique raspberry sauce that elevated Amanda's grilled chicken sandwich into a flavorful revelation. Brewster's Northgate isn't just a restaurant; it's a community hub where friends and families gather to indulge in delightful meals, create lasting memories, and savor the essence of Northern hospitality.
If you find yourself in Fairbanks, make sure Brewster's Northgate is on your itinerary. It promises not just a meal, but an experience characterized by good food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere.
“ First time at Brewsters Northgate and we really enjoyed our meal. Everything was served quickly and exactly as we ordered it. I do think some of the menu items are priced a bit unreasonably. My husband got a double portion of halibut but for instance the single serving is 18.99- if you look at our receipt my daughter got a simple chicken quesadilla for 17.49- no sides with it just a tortilla, a few bits of chicken and some cheese for almost the same price as halibut. I got a grilled chicken sandwich for almost 18 also. It just seems odd to price a quesadilla so extremely high in comparison to more of a specialty item like halibut. Also, the kids meals advertise in the menu to add a drink for 1.50 yet they charge 2.99 on the receipt. We didn’t have time to mess with the server about that but it is something to be aware of when you go. Our server was fantastic and very polite and prompt so zero issues there! Also- the raspberry sauce on the chicken sandwich was fantastic! Really enjoyed that unique flavor pairing! Overall we really enjoyed our meal, but the price was pretty steep for an early dinner and I’ll definitely need to steer my child away from the 18 quesadilla next time haha. ”
“ Very nice and cozy restaurant! The atmosphere was fun, service was great and the food was incredible! We ate at Brewster's for our first night in Fairbanks because it was recommended by many people, they did not disappoint! We both got the jalapeno burger with waffle fries, spicy and very tasty! Will definitely go back one more time before our trip comes to an end! ”
“ Portion was great, only one of us finished the entree after appetizer. We celebrated our friends bday here, service is slow but good, would visit later for their huge sandwiches!! My mouth is watering for those juicy patties. ”
“ This place had a nice menu and the food was great. I had the French dip , my wife had a burger which was amazing and then we had the southwest eggs rolls. We set at the bar because this place was full and when we left there was a line waiting to get in. So make sure you get there early if you want a seat. The bartender was good,, he was attentive and checked back on us for more drinks or if we needed anything multiple times. We would recommend this place if in town ”
“ The food was great, and the service was awesome! The freaking steak bites appetizer was god-damned delicious, and it was huge! Easily could be ordered as a fish in its own right. The only problem we had was that our burgers, both of which we had ordered medium-rare, were extremely overcooked. The rest of the sandwich was was perfect, just the patty had been cooked incorrectly. I brought this to the attention of the waiter when he returned to ask how everything was, and the waiter immediately offered to have new burgers made, which I declined as I'd already eaten about a third of the burger, and as my intent was only to inform so the cooks would be more careful for other customers in the future (though it was cooked far beyond my liking, it was by no means inedible, so I wouldn't have felt right sending it back). The waiter double and triple-checked to be sure we didn't want to have new burgers made, and I thanked him but still declined, explaining my reasons for declination. And i considered the matter settled. No big deal. However, when we were brought our check, the waiter explained that he'd spoken with the manager, and they had discounted 20% off our total order to make up for the disappointment of the burger patties. I had not asked for, nor was I expecting a discount on our meal, but they had done so voluntarily, and for that alone they have earned my future business. Getting to eat the steak bites again will just be an excellent perk. Note: I have read in other reviews that over-cooked burger patties can be an issue here, but that making a point of asking that yours be cooked to a lower level (i.e. medium-rare, medium, etc.) will usually solve that problem. Not the case in our case, but they made up for it in spades. I will definitely return. ”
“ Their Steak Bits with mushrooms were finger-lickin’ good! Also had their Southwest Eggrolls, Cheese Quesadilla for the kids with a Chocolate Milkshake, Alaskan Deep Fried Halibut. Everything turned out really good and our waitress was so happy and pleasant, thank you! ”
“ This is very good restaurant and at very reachable location in Fairbanks. We were in the city and quickly wanted to have lunch. Found this place on maps and went there. Staff is very polite and helpful. We had Halibut Fish Tacos with salad, Halibut fish and chips, wrap, chicken sandwich and some peach guava flavor house brewed beer which was delicious. ”
“ They were open at 7:30pm and many others weren't. Our server Russell was AMAZING! He gave us great service and even recommendations for places down the Alaskan road. I got the garlic pasta and my kids got random things (bacon cheeseburger) and the kids halibut fish n chips (not pictured, sorry) and we ate every bit of our food. My son wanted seconds of the fish n chips because they were that good! Clean and affordable with a kids menu! When we come back to the area this will be a must dine in place! ”
